Rejoicing in the Lord!
Hello to all our friends! This is the ninth "issue" of our email newsletter. If you don't want to receive the monthly newsletter, please click here and put "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.
I can't begin to tell you everything the Lord has done for us during the month of June. Each service we were in was better than the previous one, and we know that the Lord has much more in store for us. The month of June for us has been,
in a way, the "calm before the storm". After this month our schedule is nearly full, with only a few dates left in this year that haven't been scheduled or tentatively scheduled. We thank God for the work He has done on our behalf.
We "kicked off" the month with a visit to Shelburn (Shall-Burn), Indiana for the first service of the Indiana Church of God summer camp meeting. This service came right after a huge rainstorm came through the area, leaving much of Indiana -
including many churches - under water. Last year's first camp meeting service brought over 500 people to the Shelburn Church of God, and at least that many were expceted this year, but the service was nearly canceled because the Shelburn
Church of God was flooded. The service was saved, however, when the First Baptist Church across the street graciously offered their church as a substitute, allowing us to have service in their beautiful - and dry - sanctuary.
The service that night was amazing. We had been invited to lead the praise and worship, and the Spirit moved in such a wonderful way. The speaker that night was Reverend Tim Hill, Assistant Overseer for the Church of God. An exceptional speaker, Reverend Hill has
also written several songs that have been recorded over the years by different artists. The Speer Family recorded one of Reverend Hill's songs, "He's Still In The Fire". Well, Reverend Hill took the stage after the praise and worship service, and surprised us by asking us
to come back to the stage. He had decided to have us play for him as he sang instead of using his soundtracks. We had a great time singing some great songs, and after he finished singing he began to preach. What a great sermon! After the service was over, Reverend
Hill asked us to come to the next camp meeting service, which was scheduled the following night at the Austin, Indiana Church of God.
The Austin camp meeting service was fantastic, although nearly one-third of the people expected were unable to come because of the flooding. But there was still a great crowd, and we all had a great time. We were able to see some old friends we hadn't seen in a while, and after we
sang Reverend Hill preached another great sermon. If you have never been to a Church of God camp meeting service, I highly recommend that you go. These services were my first with the Church of God, and they were wonderful services.
Speaking of the flooding in the area, please be sure to remember those who were affected by it in prayer. I've never experienced it, and I can't even imagine what they are going through.
The week after the camp meeting services found us in Mt. Vernon, Indiana with Pastor David Payne and the congregation of the Independent Pentecostal Assembly for revival services. The Lord really blessed in those services as He touched His children.
Paul preached the first night, I preached the second night, Pastor Phil Culbertson of Christ Corner Church in Henderson, Kentucky preached the third night (more about him later), and Eddie preached the last night of the revival. I really enjoy revivals because we get a chance to
really get to know the congregation in the church. If you're in the Mt. Vernon area and you don't have a home church, I recommend this one to you; the congregation is a great group of people, and their Pastor is a wonderful man of God.
For those of you in the Ingalls, Indiana area, we will be in service on June 29th at the Ingalls Church of God located at 528 N. Meridian Street in Ingalls, Indiana (on the corner of Meridian and Reformatory Road). We'll be there for the morning service, and I know that
Pastor Jack Stout and congregation would love to have you visit.
We have many events coming up that we are excited about. For a full list of our upcoming events, please see our events page, or set up your free account at Gospel Gigs and get email notices of where we are going to be.
